The North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission and North Dakota Native Vote will host Native Legislative Training Day on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Classrooms A, B, and C at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. on the 22nd, prior to the event.

The training will help participants better understand North Dakota’s legislative process and prepare to engage on issues affecting Tribal Nations and Native communities. Whether attending for the first time or building on previous experience, participants will gain practical tools for following legislation and sharing their perspectives with lawmakers.

Topics will include:

• Understanding how a bill moves through the legislature.
• Finding bills, committee schedules, and meeting information.
• Preparing clear, concise testimony and sharing testimony on behalf of others.
• Using North Dakota Native Vote’s bill-tracking tool and following legislation throughout the session.

A mock legislative hearing will give participants an opportunity to see how the process works and put these skills into practice.

Participants are encouraged to register through Eventbrite to confirm their attendance.
